The next Hollywood Weekly Magazine Film Festival (HWMFF) will take place on 19th March 2016 and will feature international blockbusters like 67-time-winner short Holocaust Film, The Desperate, by Hollywood Director Ben Hur Sepehr and good friend of Martin Luther King Jnr. (of blessed memory), among others. Mr Sepehr was also the brains behind Pretty Woman, starring Richard Gere and Julia Roberts. Watch the short video below.
For the first time also in the history of HWMFF and due to popular demand, Egor Efiok and Bernard Kawaja‘s film, Unge’s War, which was shot in Calabar, Nigeria, will be screened (again) at the festival for the benefit of those who missed the 1st November, 2015 screening.
According to HWMFF: “We find the pure concept of Unge’s War very unique and all the beautiful Africans in it made it stand out along with the good cinematography. We intend to use the opportunity as well, to educate our audience about about Nigeria in general. We will feature all this in our special film festival magazine edition along with all our invited guests and envisage that the international publicity would garner more interest worldwide. We are very proud of how far we have come since Egor Efiok of E4PR first approached us four years ago to collaborate with E4PR to help her promote Nollywood and African Entertainment. That first collaboration of ours led to Multichoice using our first cover of Nollywood featuring Desmond Elliott, Monalisa Chinda, Jackie Appiah and Joseph Benjamin to open GOtv and since then our love for Nigeria has soared. Egor is also our only Nigerian Award Of Excellence recipient and we are very proud of her”.
Egor Efiok, who was also recently appointed Matron of Ambassadors For Enterprise (AFE) and who will be honoured by NMA with a Special Achievement Award aboard the Costa Fortuna cruise ship, has invited some VIPs to share in this historic event and some of her confirmed guests are the Executive Governor Of Cross River State His Excellency Senator (Prof) Ben Ayade, the former Governor Of Cross River State His Excellency Donald Duke and Chairman of Heirs Holdings, United Bank for Africa, Transcorp and founder of The Tony Elumelu Foundation, Mr Tony Elumelu, who is also a renowned economist, visionary entrepreneur & philanthropist.
The location for the film festival event is the same as last year’s. Please click here for details.
For those that missed all the photos and videos from the last HWMFF and Award event, you can see some on @egorefiokladyboss (Instagram) and read here to have an idea about how all this started from my business liaison with Hollywood Weekly Magazine 4 years ago.
Again, for the benefit of those who may have missed the last one, below is an in-depth report of everything that happened at the last HWMFF and award event on 1st November, 2015.
My pastor, Patricia Macpepple-Jaja and her daughter, Jade, flew with me to Beverly Hills to ensure that I looked my best. Pastor Pat made my 2 attires and styled me for both the award events and my visit to CBS Television City, respectively, while Jade did my make-up for the award event. This is particularly nostalgic for me, as I have had this beautiful 17-year-old relationship with my pastors. See photos of them (the Macpepple-Jaja family) below: Pastor Ida Roy Macpepple-Jaja of His Life Ministries, his wife Pastor Patricia Macpepple-jaja and their children Zoe, Jade and Aaron. Can you believe that I babysat these 3 beauties and they now make me look so short as they tower well above me! Lol!!!
Steph Ngaha of Carrissa Hair making my hair at my apartment in London a day before my trip to Los Angeles. Many thanks to herself and her lovely team.
Day 1: About to leave for the airport. Arrived LA with my Pastor, Patricia Macpepple-Jaja and her daughter, Jade. We were picked up by Hollywood Weekly and taken to our hotel, The Beverly Hilton.
